John Berryman's Dream Songs


In this seminar-style 8 week course, we will explore Berryman's magnum opus through close reading of the text, and through the eye of his contemporary critics, including Empson, Frye, Sontag, Bloom, and others. Primary text will be "The Dream Songs," with either the Haffenden or Mariani biography as recommended secondary reading. Supplemental critical materials will be provided.
