John Brackett is Professor of Computer Systems Engineering in the College of Engineering at Boston University. He also consults to companies and government agencies developing large computer-based systems and Internet e-business applications. He has never felt competent to write poetry and all his writings have appeared in engineering journals. He has one daughter, a physician on the staff of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

He lives in Boston with his long-term partner, the poet Allegra Wong.
